Eternalizing Affective Memories Through Oil Painting and Pastel Crayons

A fusion of communication, aesthetics, and affection transforms photographic references into artistic pet portraits and original art collections.

The construction of a solid artistic identity frequently benefits from experiences gained in other sectors of the creative economy. Originally holding a degree in Social Communication with an emphasis in Advertising and Marketing, the professional foundation of this trajectory was built within the design and marketing fields. Although contact with drawing and painting had always been present on a personal level, it was from the year 2025 onward that visual production took on a structured commercial character. The background acquired in communication directly began to influence the way composition, narrative, and aesthetic presentation were conceived, while the studio routine brought its own rhythm—more closely linked to experimentation, attentive observation, and the time required for each canvas to mature.

The Emotional and Technical Dimension of Affective Portraits

In this professionalization process, pet portraits assumed the role of the flagship offering. The strong demand for this service revealed that pet painting transcends simple animal representation, acting as a powerful record of family bonds. Working primarily with oil paint and pastel crayons, the creation process begins with photographs sent by clients. The major technical differentiator, however, is the rejection of mere photographic copying. The objective is to balance accuracy with visual interpretation, preserving the animal’s gaze, expression, and distinct traits through the intentional use of color, texture, and light—transforming longing, celebration, and owners’ memories into exclusive works of art.

Original Research and the Influence of Classical Aesthetics

Parallel to custom commissions, the development of original collections provides creative breathing room and expands the artist’s repertoire. These works draw from solid references in classical art, impressionist painting, and vintage aesthetics, always maintaining memory and affectivity as central themes. This line of research recently materialized in the “Lago dos Cisnes” (Swan Lake) collection, a series of four works produced in oil pastel on watercolor paper that explores the elegance of ballet imagery and the intrinsic symbolism of the swan figure.

Valuing the Regional Circuit and Upcoming Exhibitions

The technical maturation of both commissions and original collections now gains a new space for public appreciation. Reinforcing the importance of supporting local cultural production, the work will be part of the official program at the Galeria de Arte do Pato Branco Shopping, located in the city of Pato Branco, Paraná. The in-person exhibition will take place between January 21 and February 22, 2027, marking an important step in expanding the studio’s visibility. For those who wish to explore the complete portfolio, studio photographs (shot by photographer Maria Joana Chiodelli), and the creative processes behind the paintings, the collection is continuously updated on the Instagram profile [@camsmuller].
