After years of running her own interior decoration firm and later a brick-and-mortar store in Balneário Camboriú (SC), a severe accident resulting in a spinal fracture forced a two-year hiatus for recovery. With resilience, she turned this obstacle into a turning point: closing the physical storefront guided the artist toward an exclusive dedication to original art production and the structuring of her digital commerce.
Organic Reclamation and the True Essence of Upcycling
Her proximity to the coastal landscape while overseeing the construction of her home in Balneário Camboriú sparked a new narrative for her studio. Through regular, solitary beachcombing expeditions along open-sea shores, the artist began reclaiming raw materials washed ashore by the tides, such as driftwood branches, roots, nautical ropes, buoys, and animal bones weathered by sun and salt. Rather than treating these remnants as waste, Jamile applies the pure concept of upcycling—creative reuse that preserves the object’s original characteristics, elevating it to a new status of refinement and aesthetic functionality without industrial disintegration.
Metalsmithing and the Loom: The Unexpected as an Aesthetic Provocation
The primary technical differentiator of her work lies in the unlikely union of distinct crafts. Applying the meticulous metalsmithing techniques acquired in her past, raw elements from nature undergo bleaching, sanding, and polishing, before being pierced and structured with metal wires. To generate a sophisticated, enigmatic visual contrast, simple and rustic materials are interlaced with noble components such as silk threads, cotton, natural wool, crystal stones, and copper pieces.
